The Dalles Ecological
Province
The lower eastern slopes
and foothills along the north portion of the Cascade Mountains.
It is the transition zone between the hot, dry climate of eastern
oregon and the cool, moist climate of the Cascade Mountains.
Elevations range from about 100 fee at the Columbia River to 5,110
feet on Green Ridge near the Metolius River. Most of the
province lies between 2,000 and 4,500 feet in elevation.

A mosaic
of natural grasslands and stands of deciduous and coniferous trees
typifies this province.
