Cascade Ecological Province

The higher elevations and crest of the Cascade Mountains.  It is characterized by andesitic or basaltic mountainous terrain with steep dendritic drainage patterns, especially where associated with upper reaches of the Willamette River system.  Elevations range from about 1,200 feet at the northwest boundary to above 5,500 feet at the southern boundary.

Douglas-fir, noble fir, and hemlock forest at about 4,000 feet elevation along the highway near Marion Forks.
